What is the best and quickest way to convert existing HTML entries to Markdown Text?

Markdownify? Never used it myself though...

You may also try the HTML to Markdown Text utility

@designermonkey and @michael-e, thanks for the suggestions.

Has anyone ever used Markdownify? Is Markdownify only usable via the XML Importer? Is there a way to run Markdownify against your current HTML entries in MySQL to convert them to Markdown? If so, is there an extension that will allow you to push a button and convert those entries? Or does someone have some tips on how to update that in that database with a SQL query?

I have a textarea field that is using TinyMCE currently. I have thousands of entries, and I would like to convert all those entries to Markdown Text.

I wonder if that's going to need a hybrid extension, where you combine Markdownify with the Resave Entries extension.

@bauhouse, that's a great idea! Since I'm a PHP/Javascript moron, I've posted a question to Marco to see if it is feasible to adjust the extension to convert entries with textareas that have HTML as the format to Markdown Text.
