Can I actually upload this to my own testing server?

Your mysql dump? phpmyadmin can do that too, yes.

Right, well I have a ticket in place at the moment, so maybe I will wait to see if anything comes up there.

I have the same problem with “root folder not writeable”. The folder is writeable with 777. Even if I change the owner to the apache user the error message appears.

It is a problem of the symphony installer.

I am using a Debian Etch Enviroment.

This is a different issue, could you please post it into a new thread?

ok: http://symphony-cms.com/discuss/thread/47341/

Ok, If I edit the templates directly from the ftp rather than through the interface - I make the change, upload it, ftp doesn’t chuck it back - but the changes are not reflected.

Is this a corrupt database?

AI think I’m just going to rebuild the site in Symphony 2 - didn’t want to, but have to it seems.

In the meantime, is it possible for me to make a change to the database via the phpmyadmin?

Quick update.

In a word, I am absolutely fuming! The bloody client didn’t tell me that their site is not hosted on MT anymore and is somewhere else completely. Have spent 2 nights working on rebuilding the site from scratch into S2 from 1.7 - and now I find out that I was debugging the wrong bloody files.

I’m flabbergasted, I really am.
