Hi, I’m new here and i love the flexible of symphony-cms. I wanted to started a micro blogging site like twitter, what’s tool that i needed to start that site.

Feature that i wanted: 1. User need to register an account before they can start using it. 2. User can upload picture and video within the website. 3. Probably start API service for 3rd party user.

If you’re building a Twitter clone I’d recommend an application framework such as CodeIgniter, Ruby on Rails or ASP.NET, rather than a content management system.

I’d have to agree with my recently departed colleague Nick. Although a CMS like Symphony would be more than capable, you would be able to have much more control over the data model, performance etc with a ground-up development on top of an established framework. In terms of high-traffic, high-delivery sites, an intelligently designed DB schema and code would outperform any pre-structured CMS. The price of the abstraction layer that a CMS provides is inevitably performance.

That said, as a learning experience for Symphony it’d be great. No better way to learn a system than with a real project.

… my recently departed colleague Nick.

In case there’s any confusion, Nick Dunn is still very much alive ;)

Perhaps I should have been more clear about meaning my ex-colleague!!

Thanks for the clarification - I was a bit irritated by the posting but saw Nick online that time.
