I’ve noticed that RC1 has landed: http://github.com/symphony/symphony-2/tree/integration

yay!

I am looking forward to the official announcement. Still 12 bugs left on the tracker — it would be good to classify them if they are supposed to be unsolved for 2.0.8.

Alistair left me a short message letting me know it was on Github just before crashing out to bed. I’m sure it’ll be announced shortly when the rest of the team wakes up. You guys are too quick ;-)

Even quicker than you think. I am on my way post the first bug on the bug tracker.

I have commented on the remaining issues. The only things left open are items that require confirmation or are out of scope for 2.0.8.

By the way, I want to give a big thank you in advance to anyone who are keen enough to try out 2.0.8 RC1 and help us improve its stability. We want 2.0.8 to be the most stable release we’ve done to try and compensate for the 2.0.7 shenanigan.

Please note that we are not looking at any feature requests, so if possible let’s keep the issue tracker strictly for bugs; at least for the short-term.

We understand that the issue tracker is currently quite limiting. We are looking at improving it, but only after our 2.0.8 and 2.1 efforts.

Thank you very much, Allen, for those clarifications.

Downloading now!

I’ve just finished moving one of my sites over in test, and no major issues have popped up. 2.0.8RC1 seems a little slower than the 2.0.6 release I was coming from, but that could be the servers I’m dealing with.

2.0.8 RC1 should indeed be considerably faster than 2.0.6!

Is there to be an “official” announcement of the 2.0.8RC period, for testing and extension compatibility checking?

Sorry, we’re officially testing now. What sort of announcement did you have in mind? Blog?

Not sure. Blog, tweet and forum sticky? For 2.0.7RC1 I recall some form of official announcement — requesting people try it out, and for extension developers to start checking their compatibility.

The tweet went out a couple of days ago.

I’ve been reluctant to post stuff to both the blog and the forum, but maybe that’s a silly reservation? Anyway, the time has come to breathe some new life into the blog, so we’ll need to decide whether it’s the appropriate place for these types of procedural announcements sooner rather than later. Am open to hearing people’s thoughts on the matter.

Meantime, I’ll throw up a sticky forum thread. (That sounded kind of gross).
