To be honest, I don’t really share my links around. I do have a Delicious account but I use it very sporadically and at this point almost not at all.
For the most part if I want to share something I send it out via Twitter. The reason being people can respond to it and re-share it with the minimal of effort. It does require a Twitter account but for the most part the people I tend to want to share with all have Twitter.
Thats what I thought. It makes sense for random discoveries.
However I am thinking more of a resource for all kinds of webbuilding related urls, structured by area (css, xml,….) and with the latest and greatest on top, and the less relevent (over time) sinking down. Some portal where a newbie could swiftly pick up speed in learning all relevant things, rather then discovering them over a longer period of time, as most of us learned.
Effectively mirroring the structure you and I migth already have in our browserbookmarks; ea I can imagine there is folder containing all the css frameworks you have researched…
Or does such portal yet exists?
@ dougoftheabaci
Do you use firefox with tags to manage your bookmarks, or safari and just a folderstructure? I mis the tag feature in safari…
I use twitter for sharing stuff, and have folders upon (and inside of) folders of bookmarks in Safari. I would love to tag them, but so far, my folders have worked just fine (I sort thru old things from time to time, regroup grown structures and delete what isn’t relevant to me anymore). I have just recently begun to work with together, so far not many bookmarks have found their way into my library but it’ll be interesting to see how it evolves.
Such a portal you are talking about could make for some very interesting use of typographic hierarchy!
I smell an ensemble…
Maybe I can modify what I’ve come up with so far to include tagging and ratings as well as categories. I haven’t added anything for a few years, but I’m going to be aggregating resources from Delicious, Twitter and the like so I can find my stuff a little easier. How do you imagine an ensemble like this working?
@ johanna
I have just decided to continue that way too, just clean up more often ;-) Also coverflow can be quite handy combined with one essential subject website in front of each folder at root.(serving as ‘cover’ for the folders)
My research goes to fast to stop for tagging. Webbla offers tagging for safari, and there is always firefox.
For offline tagging of my stuff I have considered dropbox and offline used evernote, but these don’t offer file tagging. So now I am trying to just use leopard meta tagging comments and smart folders, with the help of the free Tagit. I prefer extremely simple, system level solutions, otherwise I would try Together too; Would like to find out how it works out for you.
PS: any recommendations for forums on such topics? - quite OT here….
And yes, typographic hierarchy in such ensemble would rock, maybe even some canvas or css3 for rotated and skewed, perspective 3D texts…
@Bauhause
The resources page is great! do you manually put in the bookmarks or get them from delicous?
@newnomad – I haven’t really got into the groove with together yet, so I’m looking forward to see what kind of workflow I might establish. I think I would actually prefer a more system level solution, too, but alas, I’ll see how it goes. The funny thing is I have no problem with iPhoto or iTunes taking over my file structure and just using the program for finding and accessing my photos and music, but as I so far have notes and images and emails all mixed up in together, I’m just not sure how to handle the files - some could entirely live inside the program’s structure, others are just linked - it just doesn’t feel right yet. Maybe it will work out better when I have a clearer vision of exactly what I want to do with together - I sure don’t want to sort all my files there, it’s more of a collection of inspiration and memories. Let’s see.
(I could actually go on and on with this one but will stop for now as it sure has a reason there is no such thing as a miscellaneous / ramblings category in this forum.)

What social bookmark services are popular amongst us here on the forum? Or is twitter replacing all this…
I consider sharing my browser bookmarks in a structured way (tagged) by exporting to for example delicious, and then importing them from their feed/api onto my symphony blog.
Has anyone done something similar?
