After install, no admin interface. Just a directory listing

Hi all.

I’m test driving symphony.

I’ve installed it locally on an ubuntu linux machine.

The installation process was smooth, and completes with no errors.

However, I’m not offered an admin interface. When I go to:

http://hostname/symphony

I just see a directory listing.

What is happening here ?

Check that your .htaccess file was created and appears to be correct.
Check that mod_rewrite is enabled.
Check that your host configuration allows overrides in that directory and all that sort of stuff.
