Hi, im a new Symphony user and very impressed so far. As a initial training exercise I have started trying build a small internal job tracking system as a way of getting to learn Symphony better.

I need some help trying to create a section with drop down lists that filter based on the parent selection. For example my current sections include CLIENTS & JOBS when populating another section I have added the CLIENT and JOB NUMBER as Select Box Links referencing fields within the appropriate sections. I would these fields to automatically filter based on the selection of the parent, for example: when Client A is selected only Client A Jobs are displayed on my new section.

Is this possible within Symphony?

I hope the above makes sense, thanks for your help.

Andy

Not natively, no.

If you’d like to set that up, it’d take, at the very least, a bit of custom JS.

This would be a cool extension field. The JS would be needed to make the request for options based on your previous selection, but it would also be nice if Symphony validated based on those options as well.

Not sure you want to dive into extension development yet, but the XML Select Box might be a place to start, since it loads options from a remote XML file.
