uh oh

i’m so embarassed now.

I kind of forgot my password on my localhost symphony account, and now I can’t get in my admin panel.

anyone know a way around this?

I tried to retreive it by writing e-mail but it says “There was a problem locating your account. Please check that you are using the correct email address.”

However I know I’m using right e-mail adress because I see it in phpMyAdmin There is also shown password as bunch of letters and numbers and asterisk before it. I tried to input that with asterisk and without it, but unfortunatelly nothing works. I look in config file and can’t see anything useful.

Any ideas?

The password in the database is a hash value. Unfortunataly I do not know which sort of hash it is, so I would try the following:

  • install another copy of Symphony on localhost
  • try and remember the admin password
  • copy the hash value from one database to the other
  • log in to the “original” installation using the same password

[EDIT]: E-Mail won’t work properly on local installs in most of the cases. Even if it did, you would hardly be able to pass spam filters.

It’s md5 hash. Just go into your DB, change your password to the corrected password and make sure you select md5 as the data type and update.

thanks guys. that fixed it.
