The new Symphony Forum has a search function implemented. Is this a custom tailored search or is there a chance to have a native Symphony search extension released?

Pwetty pwease? :-*

I hadn’t realized the new forum was 100% Symphony powered.

If that is indeed the case I too would humbly request an extension, or at least the code that made it work. I would love to see how it works with other URL params for filtering by multiple form fields.

I imagine the forum search is custom. But you can do basic searching with data sources already using regexp in filters:

But this will only search within a single field. I asked the question last week but as yet there’s no definitive answer for searching multiple fields in the same DS:

There is certainly a requirement for a decent native search extension in some capacity. At work we jotted down some requirements for this very idea some time ago but never had the time to make an extension out of it. I’ll see if I can dig them out and note them there — it might inspire somebody!

It something that is needed. It’s a killer feature, especially as it was in 1.7 but has been discarded for 2.0 - that for me is not an improvement.

Couldn’t you just setup multiple ds’ for whatever you’re searching for, attach each to a page, use the same url parameter content in a regexp, and sift through the results? If you needed it done today, it seems like that would be the way to go.

Granted it would be easier (and sooo much faster) if like Nick mentioned you could OR the filters together.
