Closed#357: [2.0.8 RC3] Section names with umlauts don't get proper handles upon re-saving
I can’t replicate this bug. What are you referring to? The section handle in the backend’s publish URL?
The section handle in the backend’s publish URL?
Yes. Now all sections with umlauts in their names don’t get proper handles, even on creation.
I’ve had a look into Lang::createHandle() in symphony/lib/toolkit/class.lang.php. None of the functions there seem to do anything with the string, even strtolower(). Its value simply never changes…
On my test installation (Mac OS X) it never happens. So there might be a problem with the server environment. But generally even “AddDefaultCharset On” in your .htaccess (which enables default charset iso-8859-1) shouldn’t be a problem to Symphony.
Indeed this would not be a problem — I just checked this on one of my websites..
Can you install the website on a different server and see what happens?
I’ve found the reason for this problem: Nils’ German Language pack. For some reason it was flushing the transliterations table… I’ll have a deeper look into it soon.
Cool that you found it! (I admit that all of my websites use English in the Backend…)
That’s interesting: It should not flush but replace the default set of transliterations. Please keep me posted on this issue — I can’t see a reason why this is happening.
I cannot replicate this issue using Symphony 2.1RC and the latest language pack. Is it possible that something else is interfering?
I’ve tested it with 2.1 final and the newest language pack and it’s working now.
Fixed/Closed.

Expected result would be “ueber-uns”
