With the upcoming release of version 2.2, Symphony will ship with an updated JavaScript implementation. There are a few changes developers should be aware of when they revise and update their extensions.

The inner workings of the magical $this->_Parent have always been a bit of an unknown to Symphony developers and therefore, several ways have cropped up of doing the same things. Starting with Symphony 2.2, there is now a recommendation of how extensions should correctly use this variable.

We’ve always been a global community, but the question of how to internationalize Symphony’s presence on the web is nevertheless a difficult one. At long last, we think we’ve got a plan.

Though the team has been hard at work on all kinds of new Symphony-related awesomeness, we’ve not forgotten about good old Symphony 2. Here’s what you can expect on that front in the near future…
